Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) will use TEA’s award-winning software solution, the Hydroelectric Optimizer System (Optimizer), to manage their Slice resources.

(JACKSONVILLE, FL - January 31, 2014) (SEATTLE- June 19, 2013) The Energy Authority (TEA) is pleased to announce that Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) will use TEA's award-winning software solution, the Hydroelectric Optimizer System (Optimizer), to manage their Slice resources. EWEB is the third client using the Optimizer as a software-as-a-service product. EWEB will also use the software to manage its scheduling customer's Slice resources. These newest relationships extend the Optimizer's use to 13 of the 17 utilities purchasing BPA's Slice product.

"The Optimizer has won recognition from various energy and technology sources since its launch in 2012," said Jamie Mahne, TEA's VP Client Services & Chief Client Officer. "TEA welcomes EWEB to our user community and is grateful for the confidence that they and our other public power partners have placed in TEA's solution for managing and optimizing the Slice product."

The Eugene Water & Electric Board, founded in 1911, is Oregon's largest customer-owned utility and provides electricity and water to more than 86,000 homes, business, schools and other customers in Eugene, Oregon. As a public utility, EWEB does not operate to earn a profit or to serve the investment needs of stockholders. Instead, EWEB is chartered by the city of Eugene to serve the interests of its citizens. The citizens of Eugene, therefore, are owners of the utility.

TEA is the strategic partner of choice for public power. Through the customized application of bilateral power trading, risk management, power supply management, RTO trading, and natural gas trading services, TEA is currently collaborating with public power utilities nationwide to help them optimize the value of their generation and load portfolio in wholesale energy markets in a manner that is consistent with each utility's unique risk tolerances. Established in 1997, TEA is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, with offices in Seattle (Bellevue), Washington, and Portland, Oregon.
