Thomas J Kent


Tom Kent has served Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) for over 29 years. Since 2011 he has held holds the position of vice president and chief operating officer. Before that, he had many different roles, including transmission and distribution manager, corporate planning and risk manager, project manager for the Cooper Nuclear Station, enterprise IT manage, retail customer services manager, western region manager, district manager, and engineer.

Prior to his time with NPPD, Mr. Kent worked for the Midwest Reliability Organization as vice chair and board member, RMEL as president and board member, and served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy.

Mr. Kent holds a bachelor’s degree on electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a registered professional electrical engineer and has received certifications for the Center for Creative Leadership and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Institute of Nuclear Power Operators.
