Gary Gibson was named general manager and chief executive officer for City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri (CU) in 2019. He began his career at CU in 1991 as a design engineer. He subsequently held positions as supervisor of natural gas and water engineering, manager of natural gas distribution, director of distribution, associate general manager of economic development and SpringNet, and associate general manager of customer operations and communications before beginning his current responsibilities in 2020.

He formerly served as chairman of the Missouri Association of Natural Gas Operators, chair of the board of the Midwest Energy Association, and is the past-chair of the APGA Research Foundation. Mr. Gibson also served as board president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks and is currently a member of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Mr. Gibson received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1991.
