As The Energy Authority's (TEA) vice president of energy trading and chief operating officer, Mark Kinevan is responsible for all short- and long-term energy marketing and trading. He leads the development of long-term risk management strategies and the execution of over-the-counter and exchange-traded forwards, futures, and options to manage wholesale power and fuel price risk. Mr. Kinevan is responsible for hourly, daily, and intra-month physical power transactions necessary to optimize clients’ power supply assets. He also oversees all natural gas procurement necessary for Members’ generation requirements. Before assuming his current position, Mr. Kinevan served TEA as vice president of risk control and strategic planning. With over 25 years of diverse experience in the energy industry, Mr. Kinevan's extensive knowledge of both commercial and non-commercial aspects of the organization provide TEA with unique perspectives and strategic insights.

Prior to joining TEA, Mr. Kinevan was vice president and chief trading officer for the Montana Power Trading & Marketing Company, where he oversaw risk management strategies, policies, practices, and systems, as well as the company's trading activities in electric power, natural gas, crude oil, and natural gas liquids. Before his work at Montana Power, Mr. Kinevan held various positions in the energy industry, including vice president of marketing and manager of planning and economics at an independent oil and natural gas producer. He began his career in the energy industry as a geophysicist at a large integrated oil company.

Mr. Kinevan holds an master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from the Colorado School of Mines.
